Greetings potential Stars! Ever dream of being a real life one? ALA’s Next Top Star ™ returns for another year. Once again, we’re on a search for the best and the brightest! From dancing to singing, comedy, voice acting – anything and everything in between – we want you!! The winner will be the opening act of the Masquerade and will win some amazing prizes! There will even be special half time performances by some very special guests!
Deadline is December 15th (or when 25 entries are reached)

ALA’s Next Top Star! ™ Sign Ups will be available online this year. As a friendly reminder- spots are limited, and submissions will close on December 1st.
*Copies of the rules and entry forms will be available online and onsite.
**Check in will take place at the Next Star Office, located in Keller Peak, 1st floor of the Ontario Doubletree Hotel

*Please note that all contestants must check in. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from the competition. Contestants will sign up for their audition slot (5 minutes) when they check in!
As we anticipate a high number of contestants, make sure you sign up early!!!
Closed auditions will take place on Friday, January 10th, in the Top Star office (Keller Peak) by appointment only, from 3:00pm-5:00pm If you have any extenuating circumstances that would prevent you from arriving onsite on Friday, please make sure to email email@example.com
Only the top 15 acts will make it through to the main performance.
ALA’s Next Top Star ™ will take place on Saturday, January 11th, From 12:00pm-2:00pm, In the Main Programming Room (Empire Ballroom 3, Ontario Doubletree)
Contestant check in will be at 10:00am, Saturday, January 11th, backstage
– The Winning performer(s) will check in with the masquerade department head in Main Events (Ballroom B/C, Ontario Convention Center) for tech rehearsal following the conclusion of the event, so make sure that you don’t run off right away!
1st and 2nd runner ups will receive some awesome prizes, front row seats to the masquerade, and an honorable mention during the masquerade introduction!

Danielle McRae is a voice over actress residing in Los Angeles, California. Being a huge fan of video games and anime. Her passion has led her to pursue a voice acting career in the industry. Some of her most notable credits have been in (League of Legends) as “Karma the Enlightened One”, (World of Warcraft: Cataclysm) as “Hagara the Stormbinder”, and “Painwheel” in the Popular 2D fighting game, (Skullgirls Encore).
She’s also been in anime such as (Sword Art Online), (Gargantia: On the Verderous Planet) as “Onderia” and (Magi: The Kingdom of Magic) as “Orba”.
Danielle has also earned several other roles in many other video games including “Threia Hazelgrimm” in (Atelier Escha & Logy), “S-Sha” in (Megadimension Neptunia VII), “Cheetah” in (Cyberdimension Neptunia), “Rosemary Reed” in (Remothered: Tormented Fathers), “Rift Arachna” in (Heroes of Newerth), “New Conglomerate solider” in (Planetside 2), “Sidel” in (Dragon Nest), “Captain Arley Sims” and “the Adjutant” in (Starcraft Universe), “Wing Diver Unit” in (Earth Defense Force 2025), “Rogue” in (Nuclear Throne), “Commander” in (Warfare Online), “Zorin Blitz” in TeamFourStar’s (Hellsing Ultimate Abridged), “Female Keeper” in (Enderal: The Shards of Order), “Rami the Repossession Monk” in (Banzai Arcade) and Isys in “(Dead Island: Epidemic) and much more”.
Ally started dancing at age 14 when she joined her dance drill team in junior high. After graduating from Cal State Long Beach with her B.A. in Communication studies, she decided to pursue dance as a career. She immersed herself in the urban dance and commercial choreography scenes around LA and eventually found her love for femme movement – waacking and vogue.
Ally then became faculty at a dance studio called Boogiezone Utopia in Torrance, CA where she created a J-Pop & K-Pop dance class. Through this class, she was able to share her love of urban dance with her appreciation for Asian pop culture. Because of this platform, she was then able to become an online dance instructor for Hip Shake Fitness and create an online dance fitness class called K-Pop Dance Party.
Ally is also heavily involved in the Japanese anime community. She was the head choreographer for Anime Expo’s Maid Cafe from 2013-2017 where she collaborated with the idols of Maidreamin, performed and choreographed for the burlesque show MYTH, and has performed, choreographed, and directed pieces at Anime Los Angeles, San Diego Comic Con, Anime Impulse, and more. In addition to her dance credits, she is also the founder and executive director of Woke Weebs, a community organization that connects anime fans, community leaders, and industry professionals together to cultivate inclusive spaces for progressive dialogue in the anime and pop culture industry.
Ally currently heads the dance department at Collegiate Charter High School in East LA. You can also find Ally teaching at Elements Dance Space in Pasadena, and showcasing her choreographic work at various community and industry events around the Southern California area.
Being a rabid anime fan from an early age it was only a matter of time before SpacePizza got sucked into the world of cosplay. Attending her first Anime Convention in 2000, she left with cosplay plans for the next year! Since then cosplay has offered her many opportunities and she has gone on to become a multi-award winning, Internationally known Cosplayer. She has participated in and been on staff for masquerade competitions, judged several events, was a Crunchyroll Ambassador, and is known as Rooster Teeth’s Official Yang from RWBY (at SDCC). She is currently obsessed with corgis. SpacePizza Cosplay is excited to be returning to Anime Los Angeles to share her passion for cosplay with you all!
Paprika Mari is a Southern California singer, dancer and cosplayer that is well known in the anime scene as a rocking anisong utahime! Combining a mix of cosplay with stunning vocals, the frontwoman for the J-Rock band Candy Bomber is just as recognized as a solo J-Pop idol, having performed at numerous conventions and venues. Her most recent project, Idol Academy, has her as an vocal instructor seeking to lead aspiring students down the same path of idol-hood!
DEM POP is a local idol unit made up of two girls, Angie and Tiffany, who love Japanese pop music, especially idols! They have performed together and apart in various conventions and events over the years, including Japan Expo USA, AODCon, FanimeCon, NorCal Cherry Blossom Festival, SF Anime & Cosplay Festival, Ronin Expo, as well as many others! As a soloist Tiffany was the winner of the first ever Vocaloid Dance Contest at San Francisco’s J-POP Summit in 2011 and was a winner again in 2016! These two talented girls have come together to bring everyone at Anime Los Angeles a one-of-a-kind performance full of an energy that is sure to bring you to your feet and get you cheering along!
