Hoku Props, founded by the creative duo Chad and Sammy, first made waves in the cosplay world by snagging the Grand Prize at TwitchCon’s debut cosplay contest in 2016 with their towering “Larger than Life” Reinhardt from Overwatch. Chad brings a mix of artistry and strategy to the workshop. He studied 3D modeling at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects, earned a business degree with a focus in arts management from UC Riverside, and specializes in crafting jaw-dropping 3D-designed armor and props that wow both the gaming industry and cosplay community.
Sammy’s journey started with a love of cosplay and costume design, which led her to an early role at Disneyland Resort costuming live shows and events. Now, as a full-time force at Hoku Props, she brings her flair for design and detail to every project. Together, Chad and Sammy are not just building epic costumes, they are building community. Through tutorials, workshops, and their book Armor Up! Thermoplastics: Cosplay Props, Armor & Accessories, they are on a mission to inspire creativity, inclusivity, and growth in the cosplay world.
