The fall season coming up will be packed with applications, sign ups, guest announcements, and more! Our Inaugural WCC Delegates Win in Paris!
At Animé LA 20, the ALA Masquerade became a qualifying event for the Winter Cosplay Championships, where one of our entries received the WCC Delegate award. This gave them an automatic entry into WCC at Holiday Matsuri 2025, where they could compete to represent the United States at an international cosplay contest of their choosing! Our inaugural winners, Jay_Phoenix_Cos & Celestiallfae.cos, went on to become the US Representatives at Extreme Cosplay Gathering in Paris, France this year!
We are so excited to share that our inaugural WCC Delegates took home 2nd place at ECG and we could not be prouder!!! We’re so grateful to have our Masquerade be a part of this competition circuit & we look forward to seeing how our ALA 21 delegates do at Holiday Matsuri 2026, as well as seeing who will be crowned our WCC delegate at ALA 22!

As the year continues and our preparation for ALA ramps up, we’ve added a new feature to our website to help you keep tabs on important dates leading up to the show!!! Visit the ALA Calendar and see various dates and announcements that are coming up! From application dates to badge price increases & more, you’ll know what’s coming up with plenty of time to prepare!

Important Dates Coming Up!
Be sure to mark your calendars as these various dates & deadlines will be important for many ALA attendees & program participants!
- Live Programming Applications go live, tomorrow, on August 20th at 10am PDT! If you’re looking to host a panel, workshop, or event then be sure to get your materials ready! You can review our programming guidelines [here]. Submissions will close on September 20th, at 10pm PDT.
- Idol Showcase Submissions are LIVE! If you’re an Idol or Idol Group looking to perform on the Showcase Stage, then head over to our Idol Showcase page & apply today! Forms Close August 31st!
- Masquerade has some important dates! Sign ups will start on September 1st through September 14th! Please be sure to read our latest rules & submission details to ensure your applications are properly received!
- Wall Photo Submissions will be open from September 1st till September 30th. We love seeing your favorite photos from ALA, whether it’s cosplays, gameshows, gatherings, or ribbon trading! Share your moments with us, and we’ll share them with the community!
- Fashion Show Sign Ups are now live! Whether you’re a designer looking to showcase your latest line, a model who would love to represent on the runway, or a cosplayer who’s ready to strut on the Catwalk, all of our various fashion show applications can be found on our Fashion Show Page!
- Artist Alley Lottery Applications will go live Saturday, September 5th. As mentioned in our previous newsletter, we have changed our application process to not only provide better opportunities for more artists without the stress of being ready within seconds of applications going live, but we are also implementing a new screening process to ensure all participants are proper artists, & that no one is taking booths to use for reselling, drop shipping, or AI produced content (which would violate our event policies).

We’ll have another update in our next newsletter focusing on Guests of Honor, more important dates & programming, and some other fun items we have planned~ We can’t wait to have you join us at Animé Los Angeles 22, and make some great memories together in our cozy slice of life adventure!
