Chocolate Covered Cosplay, or C3, is a SoCal based group of African American Women who unify under their mission statement “To promote the freedom of cosplay no matter ones race, size, color, shape or gender. We spread diversity awareness through our life stories and open dialogue, to encourage empowerment and self validation within the geek community.” This cosplay group is made of 4 multifaceted business women. Deanna “Pei Pei”, a children’s book illustrator and webcomic owner of i365art. Ginger Nichelle, owner of GNB Cosplay, where she sells patterns and costume Commissions & L. Royalty Clothing, a Harajuku inspired clothing brand. She has shown her brand at LA Fashion Week & twice at New York Fashion Week. Angel Tenshi, owner and creator of Angel T Apparel and soon to be a textile artist working in the fashion industry. She has her first big fashion show this year and showed her collecting during New York Fashion Week as well. Ashi Chan Cosplay artist and wardrobe supervisor for East/West Players a theater in Little Tokyo and house model on MyxTV’s The Doll Life for Dolldelight.
As a Group, C3 has placed Top 10 in the World Cosplay Summit Preliminaries and has held panels all over the country. They have been Guests at Anime California, Hanadoki Con, Pacific Media Expo, Anime Los Angeles, Anime Conji, and have been Cosplay Senpai’s for Anime Expo three years in a row.
